Water Filtration System
Things have been quite challenging with the property and getting the water filtration system set up. We realized it would be wisest to tear down the existing room on our property since we weren’t sure about the quality of its construction. But without a place to set up the filtration system, Maudilio and I were feeling stressed and unsure of what to do next. We still don’t have the funds to begin building, yet we’re eager to start providing water from the well to the community.
After some time of wrestling with the situation, we decided to each take a day to pray individually and see what God might be guiding us toward. The next day, when we shared what we had heard, we both felt God leading us to rent a newly built room just across the street from our property. These rooms were recently constructed to rent out, and it turns out that one of them is perfect for setting up the filtration system. We can now start getting water out to the people, even before we begin our own building project. For now, we’ll run the pipes across the street, and once our building is ready, we’ll connect the system directly to our filtration room.
The room also has a bathroom, which will be useful, and we’ll be able to store the drilling rig and other equipment there as well. At just $80 a month, it’s an affordable solution, and we both feel a deep sense of peace about this next step. We’ve already got the keys and are working on moving things in. Meanwhile, Maudilio is busy securing the best deals for the water pump and other supplies we need to get the system up and running. We’re excited to see this all come together!
The photo of the water purification system shown here is not the exact model we’ll be using, but it gives an idea of the type of system we’ll be working with.
Bonus Project
Maudilio is always eager to find ways to serve others, and recently, he and a fellow missionary friend took a trip to Aceituno to lend a hand. They helped our friend by installing drain pipes to address a long-standing issue: for over 20 years, water had been pooling in the yard around their *pila* (a kind of sink used for washing dishes and clothes), turning the area into a small swamp. The house is home to only women, and none of them knew how to fix the problem, so Maudilio stepped in to help. The stagnant water had become a haven for lots of toads, who had made the swamp their home. Now, for the first time in more than two decades, the yard is dry, and everyone is thrilled—except, of course, for the toads!
Personal Update
Life has been bustling with activity lately! This past week, I had the chance to help out with Vacation Bible School at our church, which was a refreshing change of pace for me, especially since my weeks often tend to blend together. While I was busy with that, Maudilio kept everything running smoothly in Aceituno. We also celebrated Thanksgiving and enjoyed some fun Christmas activities and movie nights. It’s been so nice to mix things up a bit and share some quality time with family and friends.
At the beginning of each December, our supporters in Colorado host a fundraising banquet to help provide for our ministry’s needs in the coming year. This year’s banquet is on Friday, and we are deeply grateful for the time, effort, and passion that so many people invest behind the scenes to make this possible.
We would be so thankful if you could join us in prayer for everyone involved in organizing the event. Please also pray that God moves in people’s hearts to give generously, especially as we move forward with the building project, which will require additional support on top of our regular funding.
Above all, we ask for prayer that, no matter the outcome of the weekend, God would be glorified through it all. His glory is the most important thing, and we trust that He will work in and through this event for His purposes. Thank you for standing with us in prayer.
Thank you for reading and keeping up with our updates. Please reach out with any questions you may have. We always love connecting with our supporters!
