First, I want to sincerely apologize for the delay in our updates. The past couple of months have been quite uncertain, and I didn’t have clear answers to share. However, things are finally beginning to settle, and I’m excited to provide you with some positive news.
Clean Water
Today, Maudilio starts drilling the well!! As I type this, they are assembling the machine to start the drilling. This moment has been a long time coming, and we’re thrilled that it’s finally happening. We are so grateful for the incredible support we’ve received—God has brought many experienced individuals into our lives who have generously shared their knowledge and guidance with Maudilio. It’s been truly inspiring to witness this community come together.
After much reflection and prayer, both Maudilio and I felt led to drill the well on our own property. This decision will allow us to take charge of its upkeep and maintenance. We plan to install a filtration system on-site to ensure that all water provided is safe for drinking. Families will be able to come to our property to fill water jugs at a very low cost. We believe it’s important to charge a small fee, as this fosters appreciation for the water, while still being significantly cheaper than their current options. Any funds collected will go toward maintaining the system and supporting our feeding program, ensuring that the money stays within the community.
Please pray for Maudilio and the team as they embark on this drilling project. He has enlisted a professional to assist him and provide training, so that in the future, he may be able to manage well drilling independently. We’ve already conducted a water study and identified a promising drilling site, but as with any project like this, there are always uncertainties. Pray that everything goes smoothly and that we encounter no complications.
Building “Centro Aliento de Vida”
The construction of our new property is currently on hold while we complete the well. We believe that focusing on one project at a time is the best approach. Once the well is finished, and once we have the funding, we’ll be ready to dive into the building process! We have exciting dreams for this property.
Although the project is currently on hold, we’ve been dedicating a lot of time to envisioning what it will look like and making plans for when we can finally get started.
If you’re interested in learning more about our vision for the center, you can find all the details on our website. Just click on the “Centro Aliento de Vida” project link!
The feeding program has been running very smoothly, and we are so grateful for God’s faithfulness in providing for our needs. Whenever funds start to get low, someone feels led to contribute, and we couldn’t be more thankful! Now that we have our own property, we’re eager to start serving lunches from there. We can’t wait to fully utilize the amazing space that God has miraculously provided for us!
Personal Update
Honestly, this part is a bit challenging to write about. I (Taryn) have been feeling quite burnt out over the past few months. The demands of ministry life have really taken a toll on me, leaving me feeling discouraged and drained. Some days, it feels like I have nothing left to give. Despite this, God has been faithful, helping me through each day, though it hasn’t been easy. I recently learned about compassion fatigue, and I realize that it’s something I’m definitely experiencing. I’ve been reaching out to others for advice on how to navigate this, and I’m also working on establishing a clearer work schedule to allow for better rest outside of those hours.
Maudilio is feeling the strain as well. The water project has been incredibly stressful for him, often feeling like two steps forward and one step back. He’s excited about starting the drilling, but he knows it will be exhausting too.
Last weekend, we had the opportunity to escape to the beach with some friends for a day, and it was a wonderful break. We truly appreciated that time to unwind and breathe.
Please pray for refreshment for both of us. We’re asking for strength from the Holy Spirit and for the support we need to keep moving forward.
We’re also considering taking a short trip together in November or December. We hope to truly rest, reset, and prepare for the coming year. It’s hard for me to shake off the guilt of spending money on ourselves, but we’ve received a lot of advice encouraging us to prioritize self-care. After all, we can’t help others if we’re not okay ourselves.
As always, thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your support and encouragement! If you’re interested in joining our support team or volunteering with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to chat and explore how you can get involved!
